Driving Justin Schafer's No. 3xxx IROC house car, Zack VanderBeek competed in the 4th Annual Mississippi Thunder Speedway B-Mod Nationals this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Fountain City, Wis.
On opening night, VanderBeek hauled from 17th on the starting grid to finish ninth in the 25-lap main event. Unfortunately, only the top 8 were locked into Saturday's $20,000-to-win main event, so the team had to tighten the bolts and try again Friday.
On Friday, 'The Z-Man' again found himself deep in the line-up, but again he muscled his way to the front. After starting 14th he took home a fourth-place finish to lock himself into the finale on Saturday.
A field of 148 cars was whittled down to the top 30 qualifiers on Saturday. VanderBeek rolled off eighth for the start of the 60-lap affair and ran with the leaders for the entire distance, eventually taking a fifth-place paycheck.
The entire 33z Racing team would like to thank Justin Schafer and IROC Race Cars for the fantastic opportunity to drive their well-prepared fast machine this past weekend.
