VanderBeek nets pair of top-fives at Fall Jamboree, finishes fourth in USMTS Casey's Cup points

Zack VanderBeek and the 33z Racing team took part in the 18th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Sept. 22-24, with more than 80 of America's best dirt modified drivers on hand at the spacious Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

On Thursday, Zack raced from fourth to second in his heat race to earn the 13th starting spot in the 42-lap main event where he climbed to a fifth-place finish in the final USMTS points race of the season. With his finish, coupled with a rough night for Jesse Sobbing, the 'Z-Man' wound up with a fourth-place finish in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup Series powered by S&S Fishing & Rental.

Friday found Zack behind the wheel of the black IROC machine and drawing the last starting spot in his heat race, and although he was able to muscle his way to a sixth-place finish he was forced to race in a "B" Main where he finished second and earned a spot in the feature race. After 42 laps of racing, Zack finished in the 12th position and earned the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award for the fifth time in 2016.

Zack again made hay in his heat race during Saturday's finale, racing from eighth on the grid to third at the end of 14 laps and set him up for the 10th starting spot in the 52-lap main event. Running near the top five, a caution flag with 13 laps to go brought the field back together and Zack made the most of it, passing four cars in the final stretch to snag a third-place finish.

Up next the 33z Racing team will return to the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., on Friday, Sept. 30, for the Grant Junghans Memorial, plus a special Thursday "Deuces Wild" event on Thursday.
