RPM Speedway hosts USMTS Texas Spring Nationals March 5-6

Dirt modified racing’s elite racers will bang wheels for $20,000 to win over two nights as the biggest, boldest and richest season in the 23-year history of the Summit USMTS National Championship fueled by Casey’s gets underway this Friday and Saturday, March 5-6, at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas.

This weekend's 11th Annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals was slated to be a two-track affair but due to oversaturated grounds from heavy rain this week, officials at the Superbowl Speedway have announced that the track will not be able to host Saturday’s event. Therefore, both days are now back at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, where they were planned to be prior to the snow and ice of the previous weekend.

The Best of the Best in dirt modified racing will be lighting the fuse to kick off the 2021 campaign and guaranteed to deliver some fast and furious entertainment for Texans who have suffered through snow, ice, rain and rolling blackouts to start the new year.

In addition to the fire-breathing USMTS Modifieds, this weekend will also feature USRA Limited Mods, USRA Factory Stocks, USRA Tuners and Eco Mods. Dwarf Cars join the Friday show.

The USMTS competitors have banged wheels six times at the RPM Speedway, including four times last fall. After a rain-out in 2012, Johnny Scott won the series debut here in 2013 with Rodney Sanders grabbing the win when the USMTS returned 79 days later.

Dereck Ramirez garnered the win last September before the series returned for the three-night season finale in November. That event produced first-time winners Jack Sartain and Brandon Sheppard on Thursday and Friday with Sheppard backing up his victory with a second straight on Saturday night.

On Friday, pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5 and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. On Saturday, pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 4 and racing starts at 6 p.m.

With more favorable conditions and an already-prepared racing surface, RPM Speedway officials are optimistic that a test ‘n’ tune session will happen but will make an official announcement at 3 p.m. Wednesday regarding whether an open practice will be held on Thursday.
